Leah and Kate at 3 months!

Kate
Leah
Wow! They look so much alike now!

That's it!

I finally figured out why Leah likes Woody so much. It was a odd thing given she liked him well before she ever saw the Toy Story movie. But just yesterday she said to me while holding Woody "He kinda looks like dad". Yep, he does.

Phone calls

Leah STILL loves to pretend to talk on the phone. The conversations are getting really funny sometimes! This is just a small glimpse of a phone call. Note that she talks about exploring the earth!? What!? I am sure it must be from a book. I think in this clip she is talking with Uncle John and Uncle Aaron. Again- no pants. I think she still has her pants off about 80% of the time.

Woody

I know this is a super goofy picture but I think it really captures Leah's love of her Woody doll. I posted back in November about my hesitation to buy her this doll for her birthday but man am I ever glad I did. Leah does EVERYTHING with Woody these days. She nurses him regularly, changes his diaper, doctors him, bathes him, reads to him, and pushes him around in a stroller. Tonight she would not put him down to eat dinner, said Woody was "too nervous" and she had to hold him. Held him under the table with one hand while eating with the other. Goofy girl.

Sandbox!!!

I would have never been able to help with such a project when Leah was 2 months old! The last two days here were BEAUTIFUL with perfect temperatures for working so........

we worked on the sandbox!!!! Ok, mostly Dave woke on the sandbox but I did a ton of brick and sand hauling for him. Feels so good to have the time and energy to do such things. Thank you Kate for being so great and hanging out while we worked. And thanks to Leah for "helping" build your sandbox. Now for the sand- Dave has built a dirt sifter (yes you heard right a DIRT SIFTER) that all the sand must go through to make it beach quality sand.  More pictures of the dirt sifter (and maybe a video if you are lucky) to come.

11 weeks old!

I am not sure that I will make the usual monthly milestone posts so I will just do them when I can. Kate is still doing great! She has been sleeping 9-10 hours stretches for well over a month now and naps are also going quite well. Kate is getting stronger every day and is starting to giggle a little if you really work for it.
Leah has settled in to her new bedroom and the routine that goes with it. She is still very much in love with her baby sister! All is relatively smooth around here now. I will enjoy it while I can.

Happy Father's Day

I stole this idea from another blog (thanks Becca). A series of Father's day questions for Leah.

What is your dad's name? I am busy mom
How old is your dad? 2
What does dad do all day? Play
Where does dad work? Outside
What does dad like to eat? Food
What do you like about dad? Kung Pow! Just nothing.
What special thing do you do with dad? Lowes and tacos and burritos

Doctor and dentist

A new favorite thing to play around here is doctor and dentist. Not sure how or why this got started but Dave is a good sport about it as check-ups can drag on for a while! I know he really enjoys the massage part of the appointment.

Oldie but goodie

This video is from almost a year ago but I had to post it. Leah had a phase where she pretended to be a star for a few months and it was SO cute. She was constantly asking us to call her "Star". Being super sick and pregnant I forgot to blog about it but really want to remember it! So for me:

A few from the zoo

The storm

Leah has had a major storm inside her the last week. WOW! Terrible two's taken to a whole new level. My guess is that all the change mixed with a language development spurt has really taken it's toll. It has been a bit better the last couple days but still a ways from normal. It can't last much longer right? Here are a couple more pictures from just before the storm. Just to help me get through it!

Big girl

I can't believe how much Leah is changing these days. She seems to noticeably grow up a bit more each week. Her vocabulary is also really advancing with new words every day that make me stop and take notice. Thing I have heard this last week include: "No mom, I need a specific book.""Yes, at last I found my bird I was looking for." "I will demand milk not apple juice at school ok." I especially like the sour dough." Fun girl.

Smiley girl

Kate is all smiles these days. You don't need to work for them at all really. One glance in her direction and this is what you get. Cutie pants!

Snuggle time

Major Changes

This week Leah had 2 major changes in her world. The first- her new bedroom! Yes, Leah moved downstairs into her own big room with her own big bed. Wow! So far so good- she loves it. Who would'nt really, a super nice queen size bed compared to a crib mattress? A room of your own or sharing with a 2 month old? The only stubble has been relocating all the crap the we were storing in the guest bedroom that is now her room. It's a process.

Fast asleep
The second big change- a new babysitter! Hurray for her new best friend Tory! When you consider that it usually takes Leah at least an hour to warm up to people she knows, it was very surprising how quickly Leah took to Tory. I think within about 2 min she was off to show her the house. And within about 10 min she didn't mind in the least that I was leaving. So nice. Tory will be helping out a couple days a week for a few hours while I work and run errands. Hip Hip Hurray!
